I have been teaching English for over ten years in Korea and Thailand. I want to help English learners speak confidently, naturally, and without stress. I believe my own experience of learning and teaching English abroad would lead you to the same destination in which I have benefited a lot from my appreciation for my long journey to English proficiency.
Hi! I'm TheVeryKorean! I used to work in Thailand as an English teacher. I was not pretty sure if I could be a good teacher in Thailand. A lot of friends helped me get used to my job. It was a really really amazing experience in an environment where a big smile was always required. The more I like my job, the more experience I had.
You can see that I am not a native speaker of English, albeit the fact that I majored in English Linguistics. It trained me to be even more of a better teacher than I was. I realized I could contribute to a community where many people want to learn English.
One day, I decided to quit and flew to Gwangju, Korea. It was the best decision of my life. I had a small business of my own, which of course was an English academy. It started small, but soon enough, I was helping hundreds of students learn English in proper ways.
I believed that my own experience of English learning and teaching abroad as a non-native speaker would lead students to hit the right path of English learning experience. To be honest, I went through all the struggles as an English learner.

The thing is, though, English is nothing like Korean. I expected English grammar to help me a lot with English fluency. The truth is I went down a wrong path of English from the get-go. My knowledge of Grammar had little to do with proficiency.
The reality was I always struggled to express myself fully with my limited vocabulary. I needed to improve vocabulary so that I can make myself understood. It was exciting and a little embarrassing at the same time, but I had the determination to make it a rule to practice speaking English day in and day out.
After all, I pertain to the level of sharing with English learners all of what I have been gaining and achieving. I believe I will take you to the destination in which you feel you can speak English confidently and naturally.

Teaching can be defined as engagement with students to make sure that they practice speaking English day in, day out, which includes design, content selection, delivery, assessment and reflection. To teach is to engage students in learning; thus our teaching consists of getting students involved in the active construction of English practice. A teacher requires students to learn not only knowledge of subject matter, but how to transform them into active learners. Good teaching, then, requires a commitment to systematic understanding of learning. The aim of teaching is not only to transmit information, but also to transform students from passive recipients of other people's knowledge into active constructors of their own and others' knowledge. The teacher cannot transform without the student's active participation, of course. Teaching is fundamentally about creating the pedagogical, social, and ethical conditions under which students agree to take charge of their own learning, individually and collectively.
