Here at The Underground, our mission is to bring the unfiltered, unimpeded, unfettered truth to you, our reader. The idea was originally formulated when we, as students and writers, decided we were dissatisfied with our school's news source. With the administration imposing censorship on our official school newspaper, articles disclosing the real truth about the goings-on about our school were increasingly hard to come by. So, we decided to take action. We contacted peers, student activists, and even educators to voice their opinions on the topics that won't get published in the school newspaper. And suddenly, The Underground was born.
Our publication is run, designed, edited, and written solely by a group of students, disappointed about the lack of reliable and uncensored information, who aim to do our due diligence and bring the readers the content they deserve. We are not trying to insult or discredit our school's newspaper; we aren't trying to create unnecessary controversy; and we definitely aren't trying to "bring down the system" in one online news publication. We're just trying to create a new source of ideas. Maybe just enough to spark some ideas in others that give them the confidence to voice their opinions. You bring the news, we provide the platform to spread it. An underground newspaper, funded and run by students, here to bring you the news nobody else can or will. We are The Underground, and though sometimes it may fall through the cracks, we are bringing the truth above ground.
