FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the TWS Foundation is to encourage and care for the contributions to support the Art of Living Theatre in Entertaining, Educating, and Inspiring the Generations through the art of live theater in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND OF THE TWS FOUNDATION
The TWS Foundation was formed in 2006 to encourage and care for the contributions to supoort The Theatre of Western Springs in entertaining, educating and inspiring across the generations throught the art of live theatre.
By ensuring a continuation of the 96 year old legacy created by founder Mary Cattell, the Theatre of Western Springs and its Children's Theatre school will retain its position as the leading educational and intergenerational theatrical institution in the Chicago Western Suburbs.
The TWS Foundation offers a means for people to ensure the continuance of the legacy begun by Mary Cattell.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND OF THE THEATRE OF WESTERN SPRINGS:
The Theatre of Western Springs is presently in it's 96th Season of live theatre in Illinois. It is the longest, continuous running live theatre venue in the State of Illinois and is located approximately 15 miles southwest of the city of Chicago in Western Springs, Illinois.
Recognized nationally as one of the few continuously operating community theatres in the nation, The Theatre of Western Springs boasts a history of solid financials with very strong private support, relying very little on public funding. Artisticall, the theatre has been lauded many times by the press, including the Chicago Tribune..
The Theatre of Western Springs has two production stages located at 4384 Hampton, Western Springs, Cook County, Illinois. More than 6500 patrons from over 80 surrounding sommunities suppor the theatre season, which offers more than 100 performances per year in the 20,000 square foot building housing a 414 seat main stage theatre and the 125 seat Cattell Theatre.
The Theatre of Western Springs offers educational programming for children geginnning at aged 5 through adult each season. The educational programming incluses classes in acting, costumes and props, ligting, set desgn, set construction, and direction. The Children's Theatre of Western Springs has appoximately 400 grade school and high school students each year in addition to summer seassions that host an additional 320 grade school aged students. Adults are similarly required to take Studio Theatre Classes before they are eligible to be cast in productions.
