R. L. Smith served as President of Michigan Technological University and has a building named in his honor on campus.
J. R. Van Pelt served as President of Michigan Technological University and also as a founding Director and Curator of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. The on campus library is named in his honor.
James Fisher was head of the MTU Physics department. He has a building on campus named in his honor.
A. E. Seaman was the curator of Michigan Tech's Mineral Museum which has since grown into the largest public exhibit of Great Lakes minerals and the world's best collection of Michigan minerals.

Beta Chapter of Theta Tau at Michigan Tech has also been a strong competitor in Michigan Tech's Winter Carnival held every February. For our efforts we have retired several trophies and had a span of 11 years where we came in first place 10 times.
