MEET THE FOUNDER...

Panda (pictured left) was my very 1st rescue on September 23, 2016.
She was barely a pound, dehydrated and emaciated. It was touch and go for a while, but she was a fighter! Because her life mattered, her life was saved.

In May of 2017, I took in a momma cat and her 5 babies (pictured left) that were born in a neighbor's garage. All the babies found homes and Momma has become a permanent part of our family.

I started fostering regularly in April 2018, shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer. the day after my 1st chemo treatment, I took in a set of 6 five week old orange kittens (pictured left). Taking care of "The Cheeto Crew" was the best medicine for me! There was no time to feel sorry for myself...they needed me!

In April of 2020, I took in my first 3-ounce, 3-day old bottle baby!! What an experience. Chickadee (pictured left) had to be fed every 2 hours around the clock! Bottle-feeding is not for the faint of heart! But what a wonderful joy to see her grow into an amazing, beautiful, healthy cat who remained in our family!

The end of June 2020, I took in a sweet litter of 5 kittens whom I named Sunshine, Moon Pie, Milky Way, Nova and Leo. Despite my best efforts, Moon Pie and Sunshine passed away on July 8th. I was devastated. As I held Sunshine on my chest, he took his last breath. My heart broke. I knew I had to do more. By July 11th, I had a logo for my new rescue, The Sunshine Fund.

This passion growing inside of me has only strengthened over the years.

I knew I wanted to do more. I knew I needed to do more!

The Sunshine Fund Cat Rescue was born in order to save as many kitty lives as possible. I truly love all of the cats and kittens that come through my home because their lives matter! I yearn for the day when there will be no more homeless cats and until then, I will continue to be an advocate for my furry friends.
