Our mission is to help the youth in Colombian communities thrive. Specifically, in the Cali region in the west of the country. What started as a small project, distributing Christmas presents to children in small mountain communities (in Silvia, Cauca), has grown into an initiative to help multiple Colombian communities thrive. We will continue giving annual toy donations and doing our best to make Christmas "sueños" (dreams) come true, but we hope to expand our projects so our organization can donate books, educational resources, and whatever else the communities are in need of at the time.
I'm Sofia, founder of The Sueños Project, and I grew up hearing of my father's childhood growing up in Cali, Colombia. I have always had a deep love for the country, fueled by my dad's pride, passion, and stories of Colombia, as well as anytime I was able to visit. While yes, Spanish was my first language, and yes, I had spent a lot of time with my Colombian family, I have always wanted to be more connected to that part of who I am. This initiative not only allows me to do just that, but it also allows me to use the position I was born in to help those living in communities that I hold so dearly. Please join me as I work to see more of my country first-hand and help the people who have always brought me joy.
We are organizing fundraisers and collecting donations so that we can launch projects such as our annual Christmas project, and we hope our future projects in 2027 and further will be focused on providing books and educational resources for the communities in Colombia who need it.
