DepEd plans to pursue digitization nationwide

NAGA CITY, PHILIPPINES - Stepping up the basic education facilities and services, Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte revealed the education plans for the year 2028 wherein the "DIGI-ED 2028" was presented during the Presentation of the Basic Education Report last Jan. 25.
Through DIGI-ED 2028, DepEd intends to provide digitization and interconnectivity to offices related to the education sector and learning institutions countrywide, and also supply school-wide wifi and e-textbooks for teachers and learners to use.
Furthermore, assessment systems will be modernized by computer-based to enable large-scale evaluation and optimize the use of technology while still ensuring responsible and ethical utilization.
According to Duterte, 305 schools have been given internet connectivity and satellites were delivered to 2,000 public schools in the country.
She also announced the launch of the MATATAG Portal this year to create a one-stop online and offline platform available for all teaching personnel and students.
With this platform, the DepEd secretary claims it will make all learning materials easily accessible as it will have all the digital learning resources and applications needed.
Additionally, digital training literacy was provided to educators and learners as well as e-classroom and laptop packages.
