Background and History

When Zetsu and his sister Shoku were attacked by members of the Cross, they were certain it would be the end for them. But instead of killing them, the attackers found their powers intriguing and decided to take them captive. During the fierce battle, Zetsu lost an arm, a painful reminder of their narrow escape from death.

At the Cross base, Zetsu met Zephyr, a boy his age. The two quickly formed a bond, finding comfort in each other's company amidst the harshness of their new reality. They spent hours talking, growing closer each day. It wasn't long before they were introduced to KaeLa, a mysterious girl who appeared to be around 14 years old, with a bandage covering her eyes. KaeLa was assigned to show them around the Cross base and explain the rules they would have to follow. What she revealed was horrifying. The base was run like a brutal military camp, where punishments for disobedience were severe and everyone was ranked according to class, height, age, and even the strength of their powers. Zetsu and Zephyr were placed together, but Shoku was taken elsewhere, leaving Zetsu anxious and helpless to protect his little sister.

Over time, Zetsu and Zephyr became inseparable, their bond deepening into a close friendship. In the year 528, after enduring two grueling years at the base, they devised a plan to escape. They promised each other that they would find Shoku later, once they were free. However, as they made their escape, they were confronted by KaeLa. Furious at their betrayal, she removed the bandage covering her eye and used her power to blind Zephyr with a single gaze.

In a desperate act of protection, Zetsu unleashed his own power—channeling electricity through his remaining arm to shred KaeLa’s face. With Zephyr blinded and their captor incapacitated, Zetsu took Zephyr’s hand, and they fled as fast as they could.

They finally found refuge in Syrena, away from the horrors of the Cross. But even in safety, the scars of their ordeal—physical and emotional—would remain with them forever.
