Kumo returned to the Cross's base after Eiji had "rescued" it from its friends, who had been devastated by the revelation of its true identity. Kumo was in a state of deep distress, more so than ever before. Upon arrival, it retreated to its apartment and then to its chamber, isolating itself from everyone. It neither ate nor engaged in any activities, consumed by its own turmoil.
One day, Asael knocked on its door. They inquired about Kumo's well-being, but for the first time, Kumo lied. It claimed everything was fine and that it just needed some time before taking on another mission. Asael accepted this explanation, leaving Kumo alone with its thoughts.
Kumo wrestled with the realization that it had betrayed Asael and the very organization it was part of. It understood that the Cross's actions were wrong and felt compelled to make a change. Determined, Kumo left its chamber to find Rune. Discovering him sitting on a rooftop, Kumo joined him, and they had a heartfelt discussion about Kumo's mission and its newfound happiness. Kumo admitted it had never been truly happy before meeting its friends and expressed a desire to destroy the Cross. Rune, though shocked, pledged his unwavering support, expressing his wish to see Kumo happy.
Reflecting on the situation throughout the day, Kumo decided to write a letter to Eucalyptus. Rune and Eiji, who had grown close, agreed to support Kumo’s cause. Despite Eiji's unstable mental state, he had a glimmer of consciousness and, after much debate, decided to help. Eiji personally delivered the letter to Eucalyptus’s door.
The three of them, without revealing their plans to Asael, began discussing how to incite a rebellion within the Cross, knowing that many members were coerced into serving. Over the months, the rebellion grew stronger.
One day, Eiji brought crucial news: outside Nicosa, across all regions, a large-scale rebellion known as "the Liberty" had emerged. Nearly all other organizations had joined it. Kumo was overjoyed, realizing that Eucalyptus was behind this success. Hope surged among the members of the rebellion within the Cross.
Two years later, Kumo had not undertaken any missions outside since its last failure. Despite the perilous situation, it did not mind. Almost half of the Cross’s members were now part of the rebellion, though Asael remained oblivious to this shift. They seemed preoccupied with external matters, unaware of the growing dissent within.
Tragedy struck when Rune died during a mission. Kumo was devastated, but Eiji reminded it that Rune had sacrificed himself for their cause. Shortly after, Eiji also died under mysterious circumstances. Kumo was left in profound grief.
The day of the Second Big War arrived, with the Liberty and the rebellion clashing against the Cross. Though still mourning its closest allies, Kumo focused on finding Eucalyptus. The news that she was alive provided a glimmer of hope. After an intense search through the base, Kumo finally found her in a closed room. Eucalyptus stood with Shaya and Zephyr, who had also changed significantly. To Kumo's horror and relief, Asael was present as well.
Panicked, Kumo burst into the room.
