Our solution aims to utilize the idea that certain scents have been proven to significantly increase alertness among drivers. By combining facial recognition software with a scent dispensary system, our solution provides a way to decrease the impact of drowsy driving while the driver is behind the wheel, instead of simply informing the user that they are driving drowsy or suggesting some alternative to help keep awake (stop for coffee, take a break, etc.)
As can be seen here, the proposed sloution is a rather small device (about 2/3 the size of a modern cellphone). For maximum flexibility, the device is designed so that it can be stuck on almost any surface of the car (as lomg as the camera can still get a view of the driver). The scent is dispensed through the grate seen in the CAD model, Behind this grate lies the scent itself and directly above that lies the electrical hardware needed for this device. Using the data gathered by the camera along with time data, the device will auto-regulate the amount of scent dispersed throughout the drive in oredr to ensure both efficeincy and maximum alertness while driving.
