The name Söl Forge stands for a handful of different things so lets list them.
1. Söl is a Scandinavian word for the sun, it also refers to the deity of the sun in some of the ancient Scandinavian and Germanic pantheons. Söl sometimes means the single letter "S" as well.
Our group all come from some sort of Scandinavian or Germanic decent, and we all have an affinity for the history and culture of the time and area.
2. Most day-of-the-week names come from deities in the Scandinavian and Germanic pantheon. For example Thursday referred to Thor's-Day. The deity Söl was given Sunday.
With all the members in our group having somewhat regular day jobs, we often can only meet on Sundays. We found this coincidence quite fitting.
3. The term S.O.L. in American slang means Shit Out of Luck.
We find this variant of the name quite fitting as well.
