The History of Slurpee

The Slurpee was first invented in the late 1950s by Omar Knedlik, a Kansas City, Missouri man who owned a Dairy Queen. Knedlik's store frequently experienced issues with its soda fountain machines, and one day he put some of his sodas in the freezer in an attempt to keep them cold. He found that the sodas became partially frozen and had a slushy, enjoyable texture, and he began offering them to customers. The treat became so popular that Knedlik eventually created machines specifically for making Slurpees
