DOCTORAL STUDENTS AND SUPERVISORS RESEARCHING HIGHER EDUCATION

A network for challenge, generosity and support

COHORT SUPERVISION MEETINGS

We meet for two hours each month. In 2022, our meetings take place from 3-5pm on the third Tuesday of each month.

The aim of our communal supervision meetings is to create a space where students and supervisors discuss their research in a safe, informal and collegial way. It's a space for students, and an opportunity for supervisors to develop their approach to supervision in the company of others.

We often present our work in progress, for example, conference abstracts, thesis chapters, articles, research plans, data sense-making; sometimes we choose articles to read with topics that are common between us (e,g., reflexivity, research impact, writing, establishing a warrant etc); sometimes we choose to write together; and sometimes we use these meetings to come to grips with the challenges of doctoral life - for students and supervisors. We develop an agenda at the beginning of each year based on our research plans for the year.

We have been meeting together since 2016. You can read here what the focus of our meetings have been up until to 2021.
