SAMPLE Dossier

Working with AsterWrite

A student is trained to navigate AsterWrite. The student then creates a Project Flow that sets out the order of research and written thesis headings in accordance with the university’s requirements. The Project Flow breaks up the research program into small, logical, ordered, manageable tasks.

Each task on the Project Flow is represented by an Applet (much like Google Apps). As each task is completed, sections of the research or dissertation is completed. The completion of all tasks will constitute completion of the project. The project can then be exported to a Word document which can be edited, proof-read, generated with a table of contents, and submitted.

A student’s Project Flow looks like this…

Crucially, the Project Flow automatically links the Apps by drawing information among relevant Apps to ensure consistency of logic and approach across the entire Project. The student completes each task using the appropriate App shown here as a series of steps …

Step 1 – Candidate Information Applet

The student begins by entering her Candidate Information, saves and proceeds to Step 2.

Step 2 – Fact Finding Applet

The student sets out on a Fact Finding mission and captures information of research subjects that interest him. He completes Fact Finding for as many areas as he considers. He then describes the problem background in a few words.

Step 3 – Thesis Title Applet

The Thesis Title applet automatically extracts data from the Fact Finding applet and helps to produces a mind-map of ideas as below:

The student selects a title. He then applies a weighted average to identify the most suitable problem for her research. Combinations of thesis titles can be generated in seconds using simple drop-down menus as below:

Step 4 – Title Page Applet

AsterWrite automatically generates the Title Page, Approval Page, etc. All these pages are customizable so that the formats are applied automatically.

Step 5 – Thesis Statement Applet

AsterWrite automatically generates a Thesis Statement using the drop-down menus as below:

The Thesis statement Applet also elucidates the General Aim as shown below.

The Thesis statement Applet elucidates the General Objectives.

Step 6 – Reference Applet

The student creates a library of literature and stores them in the Reference Applet as below:

Step 7 – Literature Review Applet

The student begins a review of the literature stored in her personal reference library. Simultaneously, he creates a mind map and cuts and pastes pertinent excerpts from the literature, linking them to themes on the mind map. A simple version is shown below.

The system of extracting excerpts and linking to the mind map automatically builds both a Conceptual Map as shown below.

and a Literature Map of The student’s work as he progresses – see below

AsterWrite also prompts The student to conduct Gap Analysis on the items in the literature review.

AsterWrite allows The student to write her Literature review by providing excerpt references pertinent to the item reviewed.

Citations available are shown below:

AsterWrite also overcomes writers block by providing a Phrasebook of phrases. Important phrases can be easily added to the text in the document.

AsterWrite provides a Nursery for complex ideas that need to be included in the text document. After adding text in the Answer column, and saving the data, the construction guide is not displayed.

Step 8 – Research Question Applet

All possible research questions are generated in seconds by linking the Independent Variable and Dependent Variable identified in the Literature Review.

AsterWrite advises The student on the strength of the research question in by considering gaps in the academic literature (akin to Weak, Moderate and Strong password) – see below.

Below are 4 sample research questions that have been generated.

AsterWrite enforces The student to create Research Questions associated with each Objective. AsterWrite ensures that all objectives are addressed with pertinent qualitative or quantitative applets.

Once the research question is drawn, the relevant Research Philosophy is determined from a list of research philosophies.

The appropriate Test Method can also be selected from a list of over 20 test methods as shown below.

Similarly, all common Sampling Plan options are available for selection.

Sample Size considerations are prompted. The student collects data for her study and uploads her data for analysis. Data analysis is done in seconds together with statistical decision where appropriate.

Data analyses is made automatic in AsterWrite including the selection of the statistical test decision.

Step 9 – Research Findings Applet

AsterWrite collates research findings automatically by selecting the correct statistical tests concordant with the research questions.

Step 10 – Conclusions Applet

AsterWrite automatically compares the Aims and Findings against the research questions and generates the research conclusions. Conclusions that Reject Ho support the thesis statement. When the Conclusions support the research questions of each Objective, then the research objectives have been met. And the thesis statement is defended.

Step 11 – End Matter Applets

AsterWrite enables The student to write the Contributions, Recommendations and Future Work by displaying appropriate research conclusions as guidelines. The student can then easily write Contributions (humanity), Recommendations (collaboration) and Future Work (academic institution). Together, The student can now write an Abstract.

Step 12 – Dossier Applet

AsterWrite enables The student to export her work to a Microsoft Word document with built-in styles and allows the generation of Table of Contents! The student can then submit her thesis.

The html file can be exported to Word document as shown below. Notice that the navigation pane is populated as indicated a dynamic Word file.

Additionally, notice that a Table of Contents can be generated.

SUMMARY

Students resort to ghost writers because of the numerous academic skill, personal, financial and border constraints they face.

AsterWrite with its tracking features, research facilitation and dissertation capabilities empowers students to conduct their own research and write their own dissertation.

AsterWrite is the standard of conducting original research and writing original dissertation.

AsterWrite will impact academic authenticity in a way that Microsoft changed Office, Google changed Internet and Turnitin changed plagiarism.
