Life Skills

Life Skills Labs were designed to provide opportunities from the Hope Center, while drawing from a range of disciplines and classes that are not easily accessible to families in our community. Based on state and local data, there are thousands of single parent homes in the Albany area. From these results, we understand that “children growing up in single-parent families typically do not have the same economic or human resources available as those growing up in two-parent families” and as a result many children are more likely to drop out of school, face incarceration or live in poverty. So as a way to curtail the statistics, The Hope Center provides free Life Skills classes which focus on educating and creating relationships with individuals, families, and communities to assist them in furthering opportunities for growth and self-sufficiency.
