MEL is a business woman, singer, songwriter and professional marketeer, and member of ISSA. Hers has not been a glorious road. In 2012, after spending years in a very traumatizing marriage, She left her first husband of 23 years. Several months later MEL began talking online with country music artist, Brad Simmonds. They were friends for six months before they finally met. MEL had not heard Brad's voice until one day Brad sent Mel an mp3 he recorded singing “After the Rain”. “That was it!” MEL says. By the end of the next work day, Brad was on her doorstep and they haven’t been apart since.
In 2014, MEL and Brad decided to tie the knot and were married in 2015. MEL began promoting her new husband's amazing talent and she became Brad Simmonds’ manager. On a work trip to Nashville in 2019 MEL discovered her talent for songwriting. At first MEL used this as a way to excise her pains of ptsd from her first marriage. But soon came to realize she had an amazing gift for connecting with people through her work. MEL began to focus on the positive her works were creating and chooses to write positive and inspirational music. MEL’s background as an advertiser and promoter helped her develop both her husband Brad as a performer and her songwriting. The dynamic duo have become global award nominees and have been nominated for 7 awards with ISSA.( International singer and Songwriter Association.) MEL is a finalist for 4 of these awards including International Songwriter of the Year. MEL is also Canada’s official rep for this prestigious world wide organization. And a radio host for MEL in the Shed aired on FRH ( UK) and MFN ( First Nations Station , NL ). MEL is a very active member of her Provincial and Regional music organizations , Music Nl and ECMA. MEL works extremely hard daily to develop her music career. and has just become Newfoundland's first female music Publisher/Publishing Company.
MEL’s Future plans include more writing, recording, performing, music videos to complete the album.
