As an assassin of The Severed Tongue, you are bound by more than just coin. You are bound by silence of the contract, discipline, and precision. To break these rules is to invite death—not just upon yourself, but upon all who walk in the shadows beside you.
The Name You Were Given is Dead – When you join The Severed Tongue, your old name is buried and not used within the guild. You will choose a new name to use within The Severed Tongue—one that holds no ties to your past, no meaning beyond what you make of it. This is the only name the guild will call you by. It is up to you, whether you wish to share your true name with others in the guild, but remember, to reveal your true name is to invite death.
The Contract is Absolute – Once a contract is accepted, it must be completed. Failure is not an option. Abandonment is a betrayal.
No Names, No Faces – Identities are a liability. You are a shadow, not a person. Use aliases, masks, and deception to remain unseen and unknown when out on contracts.
Silence the Betrayer – Any who break the code, reveal our secrets, or turn against the guild are marked for death. No exceptions.
Gold Over Glory – We do not kill for sport, vengeance, or passion. We kill for coin. Emotion clouds judgment; greed sharpens it.
Leave No Trace – A true assassin is a ghost. No witnesses, no evidence, no unnecessary bloodshed. The best kill is one that was never noticed.
Death Has No Loyalty – We do not serve kings, queens, or warlords. We serve the contract. Politics are fleeting; coin is eternal.
The Guild’s Will is Law – Orders from the higher ranks are final. Question them if you must—but obey. Disobedience is treason.
Never Kill Another Tongue – We are bound by the same silence. To strike down a fellow assassin without just cause is to sever your own life.
Whispers Die with You – Should you be captured, should your blade fail, take your secrets to the grave. Your silence is worth more than your life.
When you join The Severed Tongue, it will be expected you will create a TRP profile with your given ‘Tongue name’. Please use this TRP profile when on guild business / events (we’re trying to go for the typical crime syndicate concept as a foundation).
Maintain IC and OOC Separation – Keep in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) interactions distinct. Do not use OOC knowledge to influence IC actions (metagaming), and avoid breaking immersion by discussing OOC matters in IC channels.
No Erotic Roleplay (ERP) – ERP is strictly forbidden within the guild, including in private messages while representing the guild. Violating this rule may result in immediate removal.
Respect Fellow Guild Members – Treat all members with courtesy and respect. Disagreements happen, but personal attacks, harassment, and toxicity will not be tolerated.
Resolve Conflicts Through Officers – If you have an issue with another guild member, bring it to an officer or the Guild Master rather than escalating it in public channels.
No Griefing or Harassment – Do not engage in activities that could bring the guild into disrepute, such as griefing, ninja-looting, harassing other players, or engaging in disruptive behaviour.
Adhere to Lore-Friendly Roleplay – While creativity is encouraged, all roleplay should align with established Warcraft lore. Avoid god-modding (forcing actions onto others) and power-playing (making your character overpowered or unbeatable).
Keep Guild Chat Civil and Inclusive – Avoid discussing divisive real-world topics such as politics, religion, or controversial subjects in guild chat. Everyone should feel comfortable in the community.
Use Proper Channels for OOC Chat – Keep OOC discussions in designated channels (such as a Discord or an in-game OOC chat). Avoid spamming IC channels with OOC comments.
Three-Strikes Rule – Members will receive up to three verbal warnings for rule violations. Continued misconduct after this will result in removal from the guild. Severe breaches (such as ERP, harassment, or extreme griefing) may warrant immediate removal.
Activity and Engagement Expectations – Members should participate in roleplay and guild events at least once a month. Extended inactivity without notice may result in removal or demotion to Silenced Wretch. If you need a break, communicate with an officer, or GM. IRL always takes priority, so don't worry if you need to take extended leave (we've all been there).
