RENTAL PERIOD
For how long can I keep the saree?
For 1 - 5 days commencing on the day the saree is received.
When do I return the saree?
On or before the last date of your rental period indicated in your invoice.
What if I need the saree for more than 5 days?
We charge an amount of LKR 350 per day for every additional day exceeding the 5 day rental period.
What if I am unable to return the saree on the agreed date?
A penalty charge of LKR 350 per day will be charged from your refundable deposit. Delays by the courier will not result in any penalty charges.
What if I wish to cancel my order after payment?
Any cancellations made after full payment are non-refundable, but will act as store credit for any future rental requirements.
Is the saree blouse and petticoat included?
We have a limited range of blouses and petticoats which can be rented for an additional fee depending on the selected Saree. Feel free to ask The Saree Library for further assistance once your saree has been selected.

WEAR WITH CARE
Is it okay if I use safety pins on the saree?
Of course! However, ensure the safety pins are in no way rusted. The fabric of a saree is delicate. When using safety pins, use two small buttons or beads on each safety pin when securing the drape; one to be inserted before pricking the pin and one before securing the pin to prevent it from accidentally tearing or creating holes in the saree during movement. Damage fees will apply if this method is not adhered to. Please watch the video (left) demonstrating the above pinning method to avoid damage fees.
Do I need to dry clean or press the saree after I receive it?
Not at all! All sarees delivered to you will be dry cleaned and pressed. Please make a full inspection of the saree within 24 hours upon receipt to confirm that it is in order. Any pre-existing damages or defects on the saree will be informed to you beforehand. Should you wish to iron the saree at any point during your rental period, you may do so with caution and utmost care as to not burn the fabric in any way.
Can I make any alterations?
The best part about a saree is that it's a one size fits all! The sarees must be returned in their original condition. They may not be cut, dyed, painted or altered in any way.
DEPOSITS & PAYMENT
Is the rental fee a per day charge?
The rental fees stated on the website are the allocated fees for a 1-5 day rental period.
Are there any other charges aside from the rental fees?
All saree rentals require a security deposit of 30% of the total rental fee which will be included in your invoice.
How do I reserve a saree?
After selecting your saree, you may place an order right here on our website, after which you will receive an invoice for payment if it is available on your required date. A full payment confirmation will effectively reserve your selected saree for your required date.
AFTER CARE
Should I dry clean the saree after use?
You do not need to clean the saree as we take care of the cleaning!
Any advice when prepping the saree for collection?
Please do not pack wet or Sarees damp with sweat into the saree bag as it can potentially leave wet patches on the fabric. Kindly ensure the saree is dry before storing it back into the case and bag. Any wet patches noted on the saree will lead to a deduction of dry cleaning fees from your refundable deposit. We suggest the saree is air dried prior to packing it into the bag. Please make a full inspection of the saree and inform us of any stains that may have occurred during your rental period.
Any other safety concerns I should know about?
If you have been sick during the time the saree is worn, which may include Flu-like symptoms such as a sore throat, cough, cold or fever, or have been diagnosed with COVID-19, please keep us informed so we may take extra precautions during the inspection of your saree upon receipt.
DAMAGES
What if I damage the saree?
We cover minor wear and tear expected on all sarees. However, during the event of significant and noticeable damage, damage fees will be assessed and claimed from your refundable deposit. If the Saree is rendered unrentable by severe damage during the rental period such as irreparable tears, burns or permanent stains, you shall be informed of a practical solution and will be billed an amount to repair the saree, if deemed repairable. If any beads or stones have been damaged or have fallen off the saree during your rental period, please keep us informed so necessary steps can be made to repair them. Any costs to repair such damages will be charged from your refundable deposit.
What if I damage a saree beyond repair?
If the saree has been damaged and cannot be repaired, you'll be charged 100% to replace the damaged saree. You will be advised of a reasonable amount, which will cover the cost to replace a saree of similar quality and value. You may also choose to barter one of your own sarees in replacement of the damaged saree.
What if I stain the saree during my rental period?
Please inform us of any stains such as mud marks, wine stains, oil patches, gravy & food spills which may have occurred during your rental period as we take care of the dry cleaning. Any stains identified on the saree that may require immediate cleaning will lead to a deduction of dry cleaning fees from your refundable deposit. Any stains that remain after cleaning will result in damage fees.
What if I misplace the saree?
If the saree is not returned, is lost or stolen during the rental period, you will be required to pay us full compensation for replacement of the saree.
DELIVERIES
What is the return process like?
Please flip the address card on the bag so it shows our return address. If the address card has not been flipped, the courier may collect and deliver the saree back to you which will incur additional delivery fees. Items to be returned must include the saree, white laundry hanger, dedicated saree case and bag.
Note - If the hanger that was sent along with the saree is misplaced, kindly refrain from sending back any other hanger, as these specific laundry hangers are returned to the launder to be reused.
Do you deliver and pick up the saree after?
Yes! We handle all deliveries and collections island wide! Delivery Fees will be included in your invoice, but we pick up free of charge!
How will I know when the courier is ready to collect my saree?
Our local courier service partner may contact you for directions to the pick-up location on the collection date of the saree.
