The arch in the Sanctum was hand built by Pandora and is inspired by the Torii arches in Shinto shrines. The Torii arch signifies the gateway between the corporeal world and the spiritual world, and is an interesting metaphor for the process of the descent into subspace or a heightened sense of awareness that happens during a sacred sexual experience. The joints were designed using traditional style Japanese joinery, as well as a few modern bolts for extra strength and added safety.
The arch at the sanctum was designed for suspension and includes recessed hook eyes and a weight bearing beam especially chosen for the direction of the wood grain, and can easily support 1200 pounds without any problems. it is self supporting and can be moved out into the main room if desired.
