Richard Brinsley Sheridan's brisk, 18th century romp whisks its audience off to Bath, England and drops it into a comedy of riotous misunderstandings. A complicated attempt on the part of Jack Absolute to win the hand of Lydia Languish only makes his situation more complicated. Multiple suitors, all of whom has been misinformed, vie for Lydia's hand. The madcap proceedings pits rival against rival. Throw in the language-mangling hilarity of Mrs. Malaprop and your audience is in for a fast-paced, fun evening of classic comedy. This play has been pruned down to a cast of nine, running under two hours.
