Our Work

"He who works, and not for Christ, does not know what he's doing."

Saint Philip Neri

Oratorians work in every ministry which advances the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our members preach, teach, evangelize, comfort the sick, assist the poor and do whatever is possible to lead souls to Jesus.

Specifically, our community has been entrusted with the care of The Oratory Church of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank, N.J. We are very much involved in our parish ministry and with the various Oratory groups for men, for women, for children and for teen agers.

In addition, we provide spiritual support to the Missionaries of Charity in Asbury Park. With our lay Director of Sacred Music and other lay faithful, we have established and support an organization to promote quality liturgical and classical music. This organization, hosts concert series and recitals at low or no cost in order that these treasures can be enjoyed regardless of a person's economic status.

We teach catechesis to adults and children, we run a summer faith and nature program for neighborhood children, provide spiritual direction, visit the sick, assist at three nursing homes and are volunteer chaplains at the local hospital.

We have a large ministry for the poor and those in need. Basically, with our lay collaborators, fellow parishioners, Secular Oratorians, Women of Vallicella, Children and Youth Oratorians, we do whatever we are able to promote faith in Jesus Christ, love of His Church and the treasures of the Church.

Like our holy father, Saint Philip Neri and the First Oratorians, we place a particular emphasis on the greatest treasure of the Church, the Most Holy Eucharist, who is the center and the focus of our life. We strive to celebrate the Holy Mass with devotion and beauty.

Also like St. Philip, confession is a large part of our ministry which is why we offer confession every day during the week after the morning Mass in the Parish Church and six times on the weekends. And we tell everyone, "anytime you see a priest, you can go to confession." When we have more men, we hope to provide it even more frequently.

As mentioned above, we have a Secular Oratory which is a group of Laymen who share in the spirituality of the community while living as husbands, grandfathers or single men of various backgrounds and occupations. The Secular Oratory developed alongside the Oratory of priests and brothers and meets nearly every Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Oratory. Please contact us at 732-747-0813 x10 for more information.

The Women of Vallicella is a group for women who would also like to share in the spirituality of the Oratory while they live as wives, moms, grandmoms or single women from various occupations and backgrounds. The WOV meets every Monday at 7 p.m. For more information, please contact Mrs. Debbie Gaudino at: wov@redbankoratory.net

We are also have three groups for children and youth:
