If an emergency prevents your appearance at the Rawley Conference, please notify the Rawley Conference Committee (rawleyunl@gmail.com) as soon as possible. Failure to show up without notifying conference organizers may affect your ability to present at future Rawley Conferences.
Before the Conference
Register for the conference a minimum of two weeks before the date you present to confirm your attendance.
Review the program draft sent by the committee before the conference to ensure all your information (i.e., name, institution, title, time, etc.) is correct.
**Send the committee any changes to your presentation at least one week before the conference dates**
Check your email and our website frequently for any changes and updates leading into the conference.
During the Conference
Check in at the registration table to let conference staff know you have arrived.
Show up to your session 5 minutes early to introduce yourself to other panelists and the chair/moderator.
Respect the time allotted to your presentation.
Each panel is given 80 minutes. This means presenters in a two-person panel must complete their presentation in 25 minutes, those on a three-person panel in 20 minutes, and those on a four-person panel in 15 minutes. These rates allow for additional time following all presentations for questions and comments by the audience.
If you are reading a paper, lengths (excluding documentation) should be about 12, 10, and 8 pages, respectively (typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins).
Tip: Practice reading your paper aloud to determine timing, including audiovisual materials.
Be sure to thank your chair/moderator before leaving your session.
Before the conference:
Review abstracts and CVs of all participants.
Contact participants for missing information.
Prepare a short introduction for each presenter on the panel.
At the conference:
Briefly introduce yourself and the presenters. You may introduce each presenter as they present or all at once.
Keep the panel on track for time. Limit presenters to their allotted times.
Direct and, if necessary, stimulate audience questions and comments regarding the presentations. You may choose to allow questions after each presenter or after all have been completed.
