Communication & Social Skill Development: Socialization opportunities are provided in a variety of settings to introduce social resources & improve skills including speech, initiation, assertion, appropriate behavior & coping. Self esteem & self-confidence enhancement are stressed to positively affect mood & personal satisfaction. When appropriate, BIAMI & the RSVP group & other community volunteer opportunities, can be used for client leadership skill development.
Community Skills: Community reintegration outings are the main focus to introduce social/leisure resources & to facilitate increased independence in safe mobility, topographical orientation, navigation, money management & communication.
Leisure Education & Recreation Skill Development: Values clarification & personal exploration are used to identify & break down social/leisure barriers. Leisure interest & resource identification skills are taught. Once interests are identified, CTRS provides clients with social & recreation activity trials & experiences. These experiences increase motivation & develop cognitive, physical & leisure skills. Activities are adapted & modified as needed. Clients, dependent client's family members & attendant care staff are educated & trained in the structuring of leisure time & habits. Additionally, significant others are provided with activity ideas & leisure resources for participation outside of treatment.
Functional Skills: Organization, planning, problem solving & time/money management are taught to increase skill & independence in these activities of daily living.
