The Queen's Quill Teen Newsletter, established in 2020 at the West Boulevard Branch of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, emerged during a period of uncertainty and civil unrest characterized by a tumultuous political climate, the COVID-19 quarantine, and social justice movements protesting black lives lost to police violence. Supported by a grant from the Young Researchers Fellowship at the University of Illinois, the foundation empowers youth to actively engage in civic participation, social justice advocacy, and research-based journalism. Serving as a platform for constructive dialogue and peer mentorship, the newsletter fosters a sense of pride among teenagers as they amplify their voices. Our commitment to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and tolerant environment remains steadfast as we continue to uphold these core principles.
