Bible References to understand why the world is the way it is!
Biblical references to help understand why the world is in a mess from a Christian perspective. Before we look at the Bible for our reference, lets us take stock of our world at this present time!
What is your opinion or insight of our world and society in General?
Is it good – are you happy with the state of affairs in the world – are you concerned?
What do you notice and experienced? Is it not full of Evil, bondage, addiction, dysfunctional and broken families, and marriages – people are murdered, sexually abused, corrupt, greedy, having a form of religion but have no power, – a godless church, carnal and worldly gender- based violence, war, disrespect, adultery and fornication, strife, racial tension, division and disunity, high divorce rates, all have sinned and fall short of God’s standards, Is the world getting any better – is there hope?
Our hope and understanding is - as Jesus once said in his parable - if the tree, is good and healthy, its fruit will be good. [Matthew 12: 33 “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad.” [NIV]
In this parable the tree represents, the people from all nations of the world!
We must hear from God as to why the world is so messed up!
Romans 1: 18 speaks of God’s holy wrath and indignation [anger aroused by wickedness] as being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. In their wickedness they repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.
V19 What can be known about God is plain to them, because God made it plain to them.
V20 Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without any excuse.
V21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
V22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.
V23They exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Because of their choices and actions! V24 Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
V25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the creator – who is for ever praised. Amen.
Again because of this V26 God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. V27 in the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with a woman and were inflamed with lusts for one another.
V28 Since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
V29They became filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful, they invent ways of doing evil, they disobey their parents, they are senseless, faithless, heartless, and ruthless.
V32They know God’s righteous decree and those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things, but also approve of those practice them.
From your observation of the world – what do you think of this scripture?
What can we do about it?
Romans 3: 23 Says, “we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Sin separated us from God. We got to get back to our creator!
Romans 3: 24-25 We are justified by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. V25 “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement [to take away sin]
John 3: 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
What is the solution/answer for our predicament?
