EAL/D stands for 'English as an Additional Language or Dialect.' It refers to students whose:
i. Home language is not Standard Australian English (SAE);
ii. or, whose first language is not English.
For many students, mainstream classes in schools can be overwhelming and, at times, sometimes don't receive the level of support they require to meet expectations.
At The +Mind Academy, we have qualified tutors who have experience teaching EAL/D students. These tutors have either:
i. Studied EAL/D class at a tertiary level;
ii. or, are an EAL/D student themselves with advanced levels of English proficiency and experience teaching English to other students.
Each lesson is carefully tailored to align with the student’s current level of English, ensuring a personalised and supportive learning experience. We provide all necessary academic resources, creating an environment that is structured, accessible, and designed to make the learning journey both comfortable and manageable.
Students benefit from ongoing assessment and monitoring to track progress and proficiency, alongside opportunities to develop their communication skills through guided interaction with fellow EAL/D learners.
We maintain consistent, weekly communication between tutors and parents to ensure transparency and to uphold the highest standard of educational support.
Lessons are available both face-to-face and online, offering flexibility to suit the needs of every family.
