Katie Ruiz

Owner

Katie Ruiz is first generation, Chicana  mixed media artist working in painting and sculpture. She created the pompom project in San Diego when her pompom weavings became known and she was approached to make these artworks on a larger scale. She invited the community to help create the large scale community artworks.  Ruiz is an activist and believes art is a conduit to inspire and teach through craftivism. 

Ruiz has worked with museums such as The New Children's Museum, The Women's Museum of California, Oceanside Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and The Institute of Contemporary Art. Her work is in the collections of The City of San Diego, The Women's Museum and MCASD. 

Ruiz has a Master's Degree of art from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture and a Bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University. 


Ines Nefzi 

Lead Teacher

Ines Nefzi is a Transfronteriza Chicana and Arab Artist, rooted in the dynamic borderlands of San Diego and Tijuana. Immersed in the local art scene since 2008, she has actively contributed to art collectives, movements, and galleries in San Diego. In her journey as a self-taught artist,  Ines primarily utilizes acrylic paints while exploring other artistic mediums such as jewelry, collage, and papier-mâché. Her artistic repertoire spans from traditional Portraiture to vibrant floral expressions.   Beyond her artistic pursuits, Ines serves as a Teaching Artist, imparting creative techniques and expressive methods to youth at various non-profit organizations. As an Arts Advocate, she dedicates her efforts at the San Diego Regional Arts and Culture Coalition to ensure that the people of San Diego benefit from a strong Creative Sector.

Sasha Sanudo 

Art Teacher

Sasha Sanudo is a painter and artist. Her work emphasizes her culture and life through painting. She has worked as an art teacher and artist for the last several years in the San Diego Community.
