Supermarket
The local supermarket is Massy Stores and is a fully stocked supermarket with a wide range of local and international offerings within walking distance of The Pod. Conveniently located in the heart of Holetown, it offers just about everything you will find at home. Food in Barbados is much more expensive than at home as almost everything is imported or produced using imported components.
The Chattel Village
Also in the heart of Holetown this pretty shopping area offers souvenir shopping around a garden area. Check out the rare Canonball Tree and enjoy coffee, a delicious smoothy, breakfast or lunch at Cafe Carizma.
This high end shopping mall offers luxurious goods surrounded by some excellent bars and restaurants. Why not try Pepernero Pizza, Lemongrass or The Rum Stop or for a more special occasion Fusion on the top floor. Clifton supermarket is also situated here offering high quality produce from Clifton meats and other providers.
First and Second Street
The home of late night life in Holetown. Why not start off at One Love Bar, a typical Bajan rum shop for beers. If rum isn’t your tipple try a Banks or a Deputy beer. Ask for their special offers and keep one in the fridge for when you are ready. Cocktails at The Mews and dancing at Red Door finish off the night nicely.
Souvenir Shopping
The closest shop for souvenir shopping is Dufry situated in the small shopping area at the end of Mayhoe Avenue. Locally still known as Cave Shepherd this small department store sells all manner of Duty Free goods.
St James Church
St. James Parish Church stands on one of the oldest parcels of consecrated land on the Island, often known in Barbados as "God's acre". The original wooden structure was built in 1628 near the landing site of the first English settlers to Barbados, who arrived on February 17, 1627 but this was replaced later by the stone structure you see today.

Buses
The bus system in Barbados is easy to use and only costs $3.50 per person per journey on the yellow or blue buses. The bus stops are either ‘into town’ or ‘out of town’ meaning Bridgetown and in Holetown the buses that run along the coast road head left for Bridgetown Oistins and right to Mullins Bay and Speightstown. The bus stops all have girl’s names and the closest into town stop from The Pod is called Cressida named after our own daughter! Check out the destination on the front of the bus. On the yellow ‘boogie’ buses a conductor will collect your money once you are seated but on the more sedate blue Government buses you pay IN CORRECT CHANGE as you get on.
