Using The Pinger
How The Pinger pings:
The Pinger pings websites by sending a HTTP request — HEAD or GET depending on your settings — to the website you provided. Once it recieves a response, you'll get a "Successfully pinged [site]". If an error occurs, you'll get a "Failed to ping [site]", and details of the error will be provided if available.
Pinging a website.
Pinging a website is as simple as typing a web address into the text box, then tapping "Ping", and reading the response. If the ping was successful, you'll see a green tick and a message reading "Successfully pinged [site]".
If an error occurred in the ping, you'll see a red X and a message reading "Failed to ping [site], with information regarding the error provided in the text below the bold text.
Settings and Info.
You can access this panel by pressing the </> icon on the top-right of the ping menu. This panel gives you The Pinger's version number, and will house current and future settings for the application.
You can also open the Support, Privacy Policy, and Version History pages from this panel by tapping their respective buttons below the version number.
Here, you can change how The Pinger pings the website you give it, by changing the selected option under "The ping method.". These methods both ping websites differently.
The "HEAD HTTP Request" method will load only the header to the webpage you probided. This is a lightweight method, while the "GET HTTP Request" method will load the full webpage you provided.
