Description
A collection of short stories that I authored in my spare time. They are as follow:
The story focuses on a civil defense force tasked with stopping cross-border saboteurs from damaging Labrador's civil infrastructure, only for their latest assignment to force them to take a less combative approach to dealing with trespassers they weren't expecting.
The tale focuses on a Newfoundland-based telecommunication worker whose solitary streak is broken shortly after setting up a comms pod when she encounters a young girl whose plight and circumstances drag the worker into a situation filled with emotional baggage.
The story follows the editor-in-chief of a New Brunswick-based political magazine who must reckon with the ramifications of her brand of journalism when she witnesses the fiery way in which some of her readers react to her coverage of international news.
The tale follows the exploits of a ghostly woman stuck on an island—and in a time loop—who, with the help of birds and some makeshift traps and gizmos, tries to assist a crash-landed pilot in giving the slip to a shadowy fiend that chases her around the island.

My process for penning such tales followed these steps:
Come up with the story’s premise and characters (including their voice and agendas).
Figure out an ending that readers want while delivering it in a way that surprises them.
Brainstorm the story’s chief turning points and place them on a story axis (e.g. this happens at the 25% mark, that occurs at the 63% mark, etc.) that has the events logically succeed one another until the end.
Write the first draft of my story and share it with beta readers, who provided constructive feedback on characterization, pacing, thematic potency, and writing style.
Address issues identified by beta readers via successive drafts and polish passes.
