Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
Many families experiencing financial hardship rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to purchase groceries for their household. Although SNAP benefits cannot be used to purchase pet food, many SNAP-eligible human foods can be safely shared with dogs and cats in moderation when offered appropriately. Understanding what pet owners know about safe human foods—and the challenges they face in feeding their pets—can help improve educational resources and community support programs.
The purpose of this survey is to learn about pet owners' knowledge, experiences, and needs related to feeding their dogs and cats, particularly during times of financial hardship. Your responses will help us develop evidence-based educational materials that promote safe nutrition practices, reduce food insecurity for companion animals, and support families in keeping their pets healthy and at home.
This survey is voluntary and should take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete. You may skip any question you prefer not to answer or stop participating at any time. Unless otherwise indicated, your responses will remain confidential and will be used only to improve educational resources, community outreach, and pet nutrition programs.
Please note: This survey is for educational purposes only. The information provided through this project is not intended to replace advice from a veterinarian. Human foods should never replace a complete and balanced commercial or veterinary-prescribed diet for dogs or cats, and pet food and most pet supplies are not eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping us improve access to safe, affordable nutrition information for pets and the families who love them. Together, we can support Healthy Pets. Healthy Families. Stronger Communities.
