The Masks We Wear

The Masks We Wear was a small evening project developed over the course of a few nights. It's inspired by my personal experience as an OCD sufferer.

Players go through Taylor's short journey in doing 'normal' things such as locking a door, going to a concert and chilling in their bedroom, whilst experiencing the same thoughts and feelings OCD sufferers may experience in real life.

Unfortunately, I couldn't dedicate as much time as I would have liked to this project, so you may come across some known and unknown bugs. One known bug is the main theme song might not play when starting the game (muting then unmuting your audio should fix it).

I wanted players to learn that OCD sufferers often suffer in silence. This may be because of shame or embarrassment. We also need to be mindful others may be battling demons of their own. Opening up about our issues allows us to be stronger together.

The feedback was really positive, centred around the intimate story being told, sounds, creativity and education on the subject matter. The game received 9 ratings, with the majority of players giving the game a 4/5 score! Feedback snippets can be found below:
