the osda remembers fred snook
C Fredrick Snook began his long and influential involvement in speech and debate as the coach at Crestwood High School, earning his first degree of merit with the National Speech and Debate Association in February of 1978. To recognize the immense impact Fred made on generations of students in Cleveland and around Ohio, the coaches of the Cleveland District created the Snook Coaching Award to annually honor coaching excellence. Upon his retirement from teaching at Crestwood, Fred worked as an assistant coach at Kenston High School and was instrumental in the founding of that successful program. Fred was a servant leader in our activity, working frequently on both the OSDA Executive Committee and Cleveland District Committee, including many years as Chairperson. The impact on his presence in the Cleveland Speech tab is beyond calculation, where he has mentored generations of coaches with his knowledge, wit, and great humor. C Fred Snook was inducted into the Ohio Speech and Debate Association (OSDA) Hall of Fame in 1996 and was a three-diamond coach, earning more than 84,000 coaching points across his illustrious career.
The Snook family asks that you donate to the Ohio Speech and Debate Association in Fred's memory, which you may do on the OSDA's Donation page.
