the osda remembers nick bollas
A longtime advocate of competitive speech and debate, Nick graduated from Louisville High School, where he was a member of the National Forensic League, qualified three times to the state tournament, and once to the national tournament. His speech and debate journey had only just begun. Nick taught for several years before settling into his life-long vocation and great passion, coaching high school speech and debate. He coached speech and debate for 38 years, coaching 33 years at GlenOak High School and 5 years at Louisville High School. During that time, Nick coached hundreds of competitors to the Ohio State Speech and Debate Tournament and dozens to the National Tournament. Nick earned four diamond awards for coaching speech and debate, and, in 2006, Nick was inducted into the Ohio Speech and Debate Association (OSDA) Hall of Fame. He also served for many years on the OSDA State Committee for Eastern Ohio and on the District Committee for Canton, Ohio. He was fiercely loyal to his students and dedicated to the art and science of competitive forensics. Nick gave two generations of students their voice and his friendship; he gave numerous coaches the gifts of his experience, expertise, and friendship.
