About Ted Oshman

Ted Oshman, who also practices professionally as Theodore Oshman, is a veteran trial attorney and legal strategist with more than 40 years of experience representing individuals harmed by corporate negligence, defective products, and medical malpractice. He is the owner and principal attorney of The Oshman Firm, a nationally active plaintiff litigation practice based in New Jersey and New York City. Since beginning his legal career in 1984 and assuming firm ownership in 1985, he has maintained a long-standing commitment to advocating for injured individuals. He has helped secure over $500 million in recoveries in complex mass tort and catastrophic injury cases.

Academic Background and Legal Training

His academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Rochester. This scientific education provided an essential foundation for evaluating medical records, pharmaceutical data, and environmental evidence that later became central to his legal work. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, where he focused on litigation strategy and trial advocacy. To further strengthen his professional capabilities, he completed additional coursework at the New York University School of Professional Studies, gaining exposure to business and professional disciplines that complement legal practice. Ted Oshman is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey and has represented clients nationwide.

Practice Areas and National Litigation Roles

Under his leadership, the firm has developed experience in environmental litigation, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and personal injury law. The Oshman Firm has been appointed as lead counsel or co-lead counsel in numerous mass tort litigations involving large groups of claimants. He has also served in court-designated leadership roles, including liaison counsel and positions on Plaintiffs’ Steering Committees in Multi-County Litigations involving drug product liability and medical device claims. These responsibilities required coordination among multiple firms and oversight of complex legal proceedings. In recognition of its sustained performance, the firm was named “Best Lawyers Best Law Firms” by U.S. News & World Report in 2019.

Litigation Results and Client Recoveries

Throughout his career, he has helped recover more than $500 million for clients across all practice areas. These recoveries include both individual actions and mass tort cases involving thousands of injured individuals. In mass tort litigation, he has contributed to total recoveries of hundreds of millions of dollars related to pharmaceutical products and consumer safety issues. Notable outcomes include over $55 million recovered in the Roundup litigation and more than $40 million obtained in the transvaginal mesh litigation.

In medical malpractice litigation, he has secured substantial results in cases involving permanent neurological injury and other catastrophic outcomes. One significant case resulted in a $42 million cash payment and a structured annuity after healthcare providers failed to monitor labor progress properly. These outcomes reflected both the severity of the injuries involved and the long-term care needs of the affected individuals.

Business Leadership and Professional Activities

In addition to his legal practice, Ted Oshman has held leadership roles across several business ventures. Since January 2019, he has served as Principal Owner of Naliboki Enterprises, LLC, a venture capital and private equity investment entity based in Florida. He is also President of Sonaro Realty Corp., a real estate holding company operating in Florida and New Jersey, a position he has held since 2011. From 2004 until April 2021, he served as Chief Executive Officer of NeoVC, an angel investment fund based in the New York City metropolitan area. Since September 2017, he has served as Chairperson of eMatrix Energy Systems, Inc., a Michigan-based green energy technology company.

Personal Life and Community Involvement

Outside of his professional responsibilities, he places strong importance on family life. He and his wife, Anne, have three children, and he remains actively involved in family activities. He also supports philanthropic efforts and has contributed to organizations focused on environmental protection, social welfare, and veteran support, reflecting a continued commitment to community involvement alongside his professional work.
