This past weekend was prom and what a fun time that was! Everyone looked so amazing and had some amazing outfits. You all made my job really really hard, but here are the best dressed of prom 2025! This list is by no means in any specific order, everyone looked fantastic! These are just some looks that stood out to me:
Makenna, Senior
Makenna purchased her dress from Sherri Hill, her dress was a beautiful navy-blue with gorgeous ruffle details. This style of dress has been noticeably popular this prom season in many schools across the country-and for good reason too! It is a perfect and reliable dress, if you purchase this dress you can already expect to look gorgeous!
2. Salma, Junior
Salma wore a stunning red dress from MACY’s with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a leg slit. I loved Salma’s strappy heels which really completed the whole look. Also, shout out for being our new student body president! You both look amazing, and will be an amazing leader!
3. Akira, Senior
Akira wore a gorgeous tulle dress from kiss prom, the silhouette was to die for, and she looked like a true princess! Tulle dresses are definitely a timeless classic for prom, and you can never go wrong with it!
4. Phoebe, Junior
Phoebe wore a super cute thrifted strapless green dress, which looked great on them! Their hair also complemented the dress beautifully. My favorite part of the entire outfit had to be the customized Air Force 1s with Kermit detailing. Super cute!
5. Kate, Junior
Kate wore a blinged out white Azazie dress. She did all of the bejeweling by herself and also DIY-ed a super interesting crown. Kate will be one of our editors-in-chief in the upcoming school year, clearly she has great taste in clothes… so we can definitely trust her!
6. Camila, Senior
Camila wore an elegant red dress from Dillards and was serving JAZZ QUEEN. The combination of the gorgeous and sleek red dress with the long gloves, pearl jewelry, and half-up-half-down hairstyle made this look one of the most memorable, and on-theme of the night.
7. Maile, Senior
Maile’s dress was from Facebook and was absolutely adorable with a white base and gold floral designs. The dress was a combination of both a cute silhouette and an elegant pattern. The dress complimented her beautifully and was definitely a unique dress!
8. Mr. Hounou and Mr. Szuster
They're just awesome! We love you guys!
9. Jillian, Junior
Jillian's yellow, off the shoulder dress from Macy’s was adorable and complimented her skin and hair so well. She looked absolutely stunning in this dress. Plus the bag was also super super cute, awesome look overall for sure!
10. Taylor, Senior
Taylor’s dress was from Retrofete, the gold pleated and strapless look looked so amazing on her. You don’t typically see accordion pleated dresses in prom, so wearing this dress was super unique and different. Super jealous of this outfit.
11. Lucy, Junior
Lucy made her own dress! This dress had an absolutely stunning silhouette and the fabric was color shifting from pink to green! Just like Glinda said, pink goes good with green. Shout out to Krista Lavonas Designs and go follow @I.I.stitched on Instagram.
12. Eliza, senior
Eliza got her dress from babyboo. The stark contrast of the black and white in this dress was super eye-catching and unique! I personally loved the corset-style top with the sleek thin skirt. I really loved this look and it was one of my personal favorites
13. Sophie, Senior (don’t leave us plsss)
Our beloved former editor-in-chief wore a beautiful green tulle dress with floral applique from David’s Bridal. I really loved the slit in the dress, that isn’t commonly seen in a dress with tulle. We love you Sophie and we will really really miss you <3 (we don't have a photo but trust us the dress is amazing).

This spring, the Northfield Nighthawks baseball program competed in the highest division of Colorado high school baseball, the 5A division, for the first time in program history. Coming off a 13-10 season in the 4A division in 2024, the step to 5A was going to be tough for the Nighthawks. Looking back on the season, Coach David Miller said, “I think there is a big difference between 4 and 5A. The margins of error are so small … we really had to stay on top of things and really focus when the pressure was on.” He noted that he felt they could have just flipped the results of two or three games, and they would have been hosting a playoff game, instead of going on the road. Even against better competition, the Nighthawks found success, improving their record and reaching the state tournament.
A big part of the growth this program has made is its improvement on the defensive side. They set a team record this year with a fielding percentage of 0.923. Coach Miller said, “I think in previous years they [the Nighthawks] have really leaned on hitting and not trusted their gloves and pitching. This year, we’ve emphasized those two as part of the winning formula, and I think they have really bought in.” The Nighthawks’ pitching has also been impressive. Junior Adler Hickey led the team in innings pitched, but they did not rely too heavily on him or any other pitcher. The Nighthawks had six main pitchers they could go to at any time and trust to get the job done. They had four pitchers with ERAs below 4.00 and had an impressive team ERA of 4.43. Coach Miller also highlighted the improvement throughout this season of senior first baseman Cooper Hasler. He said, “He has always been our best defensive first baseman, but over the past three weeks, he has really started coming around with the bat.” Hasler had four home runs this season and a batting average of 0.394. Two of those four home runs were big, lead-taking moments in significant games against Denver East and Denver South.
Unfortunately for the Nighthawks, their season came to an end in the first round of the regional tournament on Saturday, May 17, in a 10-4 loss against Riverdale Ridge. This loss, however, does not discredit the incredible season the Nighthawks had. They improved as a team even when the competition got tougher. The Northfield baseball program is clearly on an upward trajectory and will continue to reach new heights every year. Coach Miller said, “We’re having fun playing baseball, we’re building team camaraderie, more than I’ve ever seen with this program, and it’s just exciting to see where we go from here.”

Major League Soccer resumed from its winter break, and the Colorado Rapids took full advantage, with a thriller against FC Dallas. Both teams ended up taking a point and three goals home, as the final score ended 3-3. Colorado striker Rafael Navarro scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute, having scored one earlier in the game, while longtime captain Keegan Rosenberry created an absolute stunner of a goal in the sixth minute. From that first game, the Rapids narrowly won against Austin, and favorites San Jose, before falling 0-3 to Portland. Eight points were then won from their next five games, with wins against Charlotte and San Diego FC, a loss to Vancouver, and two draws. Against the Houston Dynamo, star keeper Zac Stefan was red carded in extra time, forcing backup keeper Nico Hansen into his first professional start. He did well against the Seattle Sounders, and both sides went home with a point.
The game against Seattle marks a third consecutive unbeaten game, after a hugely positive season before. The Rapids made their first return to the playoffs since 2021, although they were knocked out in the first round. Head coach Chris Armas, who’s made huge strides since returning to the MLS in 2023, will be looking to change that, hoping that his team will have the depth and strength to push through the final stretch of the season this year. It’s looking positive for the Rapids as they currently sit in fifth place, which grants them an automatic berth into the playoffs.
One major concern this year, however, is the depth of the backline. After multiple injuries to key starters, vulnerabilities were quickly picked in their defensive line by opposing teams. Out of their eight games so far, they have managed to keep a clean sheet in only two, relying heavily on keeper Zac Stefan to make miracle saves to keep them in the game. While Stefan has been doing his job very, very well, he cannot be expected to continue to hold the weight of the team on his shoulders. Trades were made to attempt to strengthen the line, however so far they have all been proven to have minimal-to-no impact on the team. If Armas wants to go deep this season, that’ll be one area he’s looking to majorly improve.
