Children in Gaza are enduring unimaginable suffering due to the ongoing war. Over 50,000 children have been killed or injured, with tens of thousands suffering life-altering injuries and amputations. More than 56,000 have lost one or both parents, and a vast majority show severe signs of psychological trauma.
The crisis has stripped away basic human necessities and childhood normalcy, leaving youth to face several severe realities:
Life-Threatening Health Conditions: Aid blockades and decimated infrastructure have led to mass malnutrition and rampant bacterial infections. Hospitals, often functioning under bombardment, lack basic supplies, power, and medical staff, leaving critical injuries untreated.
Extreme Displacement and Deprivation: Hundreds of thousands of children live in squalor inside repeatedly displaced tent camps, struggling with shortages of food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter. Children frequently scavenge for scraps to burn just to heat water.
Profound Psychological Trauma: The UN estimates that nearly 90% of children exhibit severe emotional distress. Constant exposure to violence, loss of loved ones, and nightmares leave deep non-physical scars.
