At Penrose Elementary, 4th and 5th grade students can choose between Band and Orchestra.  We meet twice per week and perform at least two times a year.  Students are expected to practice, participate in class rehearsals, and attend/participate in all performances.  This is an academic course and grades are based upon testing of musical knowledge, performance of Belt Studies, and participation in class.  Traditionally, students perform at least twice a year in December and May with additional performance opportunities to showcase student learning (Night of the Arts, All City Orchestra, Solo & Ensemble, etc).
