Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Reality Television emerged as a window to everyday life. First starting on a more candid form, reality television has emerged as a prominent genre of television in today’s society. Successful shows have added words to our lexicon, objects into our homes, and dreams into our minds. As the genre grew, it has become part of the American psyche.

The relics of reality television have become iconic in the history of television and the research and preservation have become a way to relive the magic of the past and unlock the mystery of the human experience. These have come in the form of props and wardrobe from the actual shows themselves to the toys, products, fashion, and music that we consume in everyday life.

While reality television was originally geared towards entertainment, the long-term successful shows have been ones that not only have entertainment value, but also strong socialization and interaction amongst viewers. So many aspects of life, from cooking, to travel, from music, to business has been reinforced by each emerging reality program. These programs have changed our way of thinking and sometimes even our way of living.

The Museum of Reality Television takes you through the wonder of various programs. The museum overlaps education with entertainment to grab the viewers’ imagination and capture their minds. As we grow we cite many of our ideas being inspired by what we have seen and heard from television. This motivation is what we at the Museum of Reality Television have put our hard work into: preservation, education, and inspiration.

Vision Statement

Michael S. Pascua – Founder and Owner

The Museum of Reality Television is the culmination of a lifelong dream to see the genre of reality television have a platform that it deserves. Over the years I have had an opportunity to collect and present unforgettable reality television memorabilia that I believed that this Museum was the next logical step. This museum displays how the history of popular culture in the form of this genre of television has woven itself into our way of life.

I have grown up watching so many forms of Reality Television. I was inspired by the talented performers of Star Search, lived vicariously through the contestants on Road Rules, and wanted to venture into treacherous terrain on the Eco-Challenge. I’ve always wanted to spread my childhood delight to everyone I’ve encountered.

The Museum of Reality Television is the next step in my goal: become a showplace for others to learn and imagine. The relics in the museum cover decades of history and looks toward the future to help us all understand the human experience better.

Our museum is dedicated to all forms of reality television, whether it was for money or just a slice of life, since the genre has played a large role in our entertainment and education of our lives. It is the dreams of adventure, spirit, innovation, and exhibition that captures your mind and inspires your everyday life.
