About The Muddy Boots Co-op
Hi, I’m Kanami—a homeschooling mom of two wild-hearted, nature-loving boys.
When we began homeschooling, it was tough to find free, inclusive spaces where kids could just be kids. My boys needed friends, play, and connection—and so did I.
That’s how The Muddy Boots Co-op was born. No religion, no politics—just families coming together to explore, learn, and grow through nature.
What started as simple meetups has become a vibrant weekly rhythm, led by amazing parents who volunteer, show up, and help this community thrive. We’ve shared free nature activities, low-cost field trips, and science-based fun—rooted in kindness, curiosity, and connection.
This group is—and will always be—free, non-religious, and welcoming to all. Discrimination and hate have no place here.
We're growing together, one leaf pile, muddy hike, and nature craft at a time.
Welcome to our circle. We’re so happy you’re here. 💚
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any prior homeschooling experience to join?
Nope! Whether you're brand new to homeschooling or have been doing it for years, you're welcome here.
Is there an application process to join?
No application needed—just show up and say hi! We’re happy to have you.
Are there age or grade requirements?
Not at all. Our group is open to all ages—currently we have kids from 1 to 10 years old, and we’re always hoping to grow with families of older children too.
Do I have to volunteer in order to keep attending?
Nope. Volunteering is always appreciated but never required. Some parents love leading, others prefer to just come and enjoy. All are welcome!
Are there rules for hosting an activity?
No strict rules—just be thoughtful and age-appropriate. Keep it simple, safe, and fun! If you’re unsure, feel free to check in with me or another parent volunteer.
Do I need to bring my own supplies for activities?
Nope! The parent hosting the activity will bring any supplies needed. That said, feel free to bring anything your child might need personally—like water, a snack, or extra markers if they love to color!
We love celebrating—but please contact Kanami first before planning a party during co-op time. We'll gladly help schedule a different day or time so it doesn't overlap with our regular meetups.
Group Guidelines & Expectations
To keep The Muddy Boots Co-op fun, safe, and welcoming for all families, we kindly ask that everyone follows these simple guidelines:
1. Be Kind & Inclusive
We welcome all families. Discrimination, bullying, or hate of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. Respect Each Other’s Space & Parenting Styles
We all parent differently—and that’s okay! Please be mindful and respectful of other families' choices and boundaries.
3. Supervise Your Own Children
This is a cooperative group, not a drop-off program. Parents or guardians must stay and supervise their children at all times.
4. Be Gentle with Nature
We encourage exploration and play, but let’s leave no trace and treat nature with care.
5. Clean Up After Yourself
Help keep our parks and spaces clean. Please pick up trash and return supplies at the end of each meetup.
6. Be Flexible & Kind to Volunteers
All activities are parent-led and completely volunteer-based. Come with an open mind and a grateful heart—even if things don’t go perfectly.
7. Sick? Skip This Week
Please stay home if you or your child isn’t feeling well. We’ll be excited to see you the next time!
