The Mixed Nuts

The MIXED NUTS appeared on the music scene rather inauspiciously in March 2009 at a “Spring Fling” sponsored by an LDS Ward in South Jordan. Since that quiet beginning, this five-member ensemble has exploded into prominence, endearing itself to countless residents of senior centers and retirement facilities across the Salt Lake Valley. Playing the music of the big band era, they reignite in the minds of those who lived at that time great memories of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, and countless other entertainers of that era. Today, they are one of the busiest bands in the valley, averaging 7 engagements per week and receiving accolades whenever they perform. Asked about their amazing success, Bob Nohavec, the leader of the ensemble, replied, “It’s pretty simple. We play what people want to hear, and we play it well. And in the process, they have fun and we have fun! That’s the most important part - we all have fun! What could be better than that?” Indeed, what could be better than that?
