The Values and Impact Survey

The Academic Senate’s Calendar Task Force developed a survey to gauge the campus community’s opinions on potential changes to the academic calendar. Invitations for participation in the survey were distributed to 1,305 MiraCosta employees. The survey launched on October 3, 2023, and closed on October 17, 2023. A total of 315 surveys were completed, for a response rate of 24%.

Ultimately it is difficult to weigh in on a specific aspect of a calendar without knowing what might need to be given up in the exchange. As such, the taskforce is preparing to host a townhall discussion to follow-up with the community to discuss FAQs raised by our inquiry into the academic calendar and discuss the survey results at a more nuanced level. Furthermore, the input received from this survey will inform the calendar prototypes the taskforce will model as well as help the taskforce shape discussion questions for our townhall webinars next spring.
