Rhiannon Armstrong and Tim Spooner started working together in March 2020: The Microscope Sessions is their first collaborative piece. Established solo artists in their own right who move through multiple disciplines and contexts, as a partnership they have integrated Rhiannon's intimate relational practice with Tim's investigations into the desire of material, towards artwork that welcomes its audience to spend time in a place of uncertainty.
The Microscope Sessions was a project that developed between us early in lockdown. Following the cancellation of some work we were due to start together in the spring, we decided to meet once a week on Skype instead, to explore ideas and as a way just to stay connected. This work has been shown as part of the online programmes of The National Gallery, Southbank Centre, and The Place in London, with Forest Fringe TV, and was part of the LIFT Concept Touring residency.
Documentation of the original work combined with comments from people who attended.
