Inspired by local architecture in the South Lake Eola area of Orlando lies Flora Market this market two buildings on opposite sites of a courtyard which houses local businesses in the Orlando area the aim to create unique shopping environments that invite guests to spend time perusing the market. Local businesses were chosen to amplify the connection to Orlando and embrace the third space concept encouraging locals to come and enjoy the park after their day or on a stroll in the park. This is further enhanced by monthly events hosted by the market tenants and pop up events that occur around the year.

To preserve the simplicity of Mickey Mouse Park, it was decided that there would be no ritzy sit-down restaurants, however, even with the presence of the rotating shops, the park would be lacking if it left guests without a permanent fixture to grab some grub at, so it instead features a more casual, simplified restaurant to fit in with the park’s goals. The Sunshine Café is the culinary center of Mickey Mouse Park, designed to provide a simple, down to earth location that forgoes the often elaborate style of the major theme parks’ dining experience in exchange for a chill environment which serves simple snacks throughout the day.
The exterior of the eatery is designed in the style of a 1950s American coffee shop, humble and meant to fit in with typical city architecture, but with more whimsy and creativity than the average minimalistic chain restaurant of today. The building, painted in a light shade of maroon, stands at a modest size, with wood trims on the side of the rectangular building leading into a curved roof, of which the front of is adorned with the café’s logo, as depicted by a neon sign. Each wall of the building is decorated with rounded windows, except for the west most side, which leads out into an open dining area, which looks out into the lake, with each outdoors table having a colorfully patterned umbrella attached to it, providing some shade for customers.
Once guests enter inside, they’ll be greeted to a very open interior, with plenty of space to navigate around tables, with mostly minimal furniture such as small houseplants dotted around, along with a few couches for guests to recline in. The whole aesthetic of the interior is designed to capture the typical feel of a local coffee shop, with the only nod to Disney’s branding being through the concept art for the different Disney parks that’s hung up on the walls. The restaurant is usually scored with a jazzy soundtrack that plays over speakers, however there is a stage in the corner where live musicians play a few times throughout the day.
The café has a relatively simple menu, offering up coffee and tea, as well as some treats, such as a small pastry selection in the morning, ice cream later in the day, or a few of Disney’s typical theme park offerings. The full menu can be found below:
