History of Photography
It is absolutely amazing how far photography has come. Today, everyone walks around with a 10+ megapixel camera in their pocket! But where did this technology come from? Who pioneered the way? What impact did it have on society?
The History of Photography assignment asks you to participate in a collaborative timeline project. As a class we will assemble a timeline that tracks the advancement of photographic technology, that will point to the absolute roots of the craft, and which will give us some idea as to where photography is going.
To complete this assignment, you have 4 main tasks.
1. Choose and sign up for 2 "points in time" or "" in the history below.
2. Do some research! For each point in time, you need to identify:
- Who and where the figure/event/item is, or where it was developed.
- Why they/it are important.
- What led up to the individual's / event's contribution, or what made the "thing" possible.
- What contribution the person or thing made to photography today.
3. Once you have done your research, gather some interesting and telling images that support your people, things, or events.
4. For each event, person, or thing - create a slide in the slide show below. Make sure to have clear title to your slide so that we can easily organize our timeline.
- The format will be "DATE, THING"
