1. What is copyright and how is it created/ formed

Copyright is the legal right, given to an author to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same. Copyright is formed for protection for creators control of their works. By assigning exclusive rights to copyright holders.

2.What is creative commons and how is it managed?

Creative Commons is an equal sharing platform that permits individuals to create content with the purpose of letting it be used by others., and then have some controls over the way others can use it.

3. What is public domain? How do things become public domain?

Public Domain refers to creative materials that are not protected by intellectual property laws such as copyright, trademark, or patent laws. The public owns these works, not an individual author or artist. Anyone can use a public domain work without obtaining permission, but no one can ever own it. Work enters the public domain when 70 years after the death of author have passed, or, for corporate works, anonymous works, or works for hire, 95 years from the date of publication or 120 years from the date of creation, whichever expires first.

4. What is Fair Use? ("Fair Dealing" for Canadians.)

Fair Dealing is a user's right in copyright law permitting with a copyright protected work without permission or payment of copyright royalties. Furthermore, Fair Use applies to content that is research, private study, criticism, review or news reporting, education, and satire or parody without having to seek permissions.
