Event Photograpy

This assignment asks you to, photographically, document an event happening around the school. You will first create an action plan. Then, you will create a list of shots that are required. Once your planning is complete, you will shoot the event and submit a photo package.

Step 1: Create an action plan.

In this step you will make yourself prepared for the upcomming shoot.

Open up a new google doc, and answer the following questions:

  1. Do I need any special permissions?
  2. Where is the event, and what lighting issues might occur?
  3. What are the most important aspects of the event to be covered?
  4. What gear will I need to properly cover the event?

Step 2: Create a shot list.

In the same document, begin generating a list of required shots for complete event coverage. Be exhaustive: it only takes a few seconds to get a picture if you know you need to take it . Think of this list as the checklist you need to complete in order to get paid!

Step 3: Do the shoot!

Show your document to the instructor and get a approval for a press-pass.

Head to the event and get your coverage!

Step 4: Process and submit

Once the shoot is over, return to the lab process the best photos you got - make sure you complete your checklist!

Save your masters somewhere important, and then submit to your photographers portfolio!
