Jonathan Womelsdorf's Father Is Not Samuel Womelsdorf, A Hypothesis

Through the publications of Womelsdorf And Wittgensteiners (1983) and Samuel Womelsdorf And Descendants (1992), it is mentioned that Jonathan Womelsdorf (1843-1899) was a son of Samuel Womelsdorf (1818-1905) and Elizabeth Belles (1820-1891). His lineage number through the Womelsdorf Family Association is DAS52. The lineage is from the progenitor Womelsdorf in America, Johann (D)aniel (1703-1759), J(a)cob (1733-1805), and (S)amuel for the letters and the 5th and 2nd born, paternally. The 'a' in Jacob is because he is the second son that began with a 'j' as it was already taken from the first son, John.

Jonathan Womelsdorf married Caroline Clewell Crouse in about 1866, likely in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. Together, they had six children: Arthur M., Harry B., Edward Guy, Charles Wesley, Samuel Raymond, and Fannie Reta. Only Edward Guy, Charles Wesley, and Fannie Reta made it to adulthood; and the same three got married and continued on the Womelsdorf name.

My father and I took an AncestryDNA autosomnal test in late 2018 from a person that suspected her biological father was not the father who had raised her. This turned out to be true when the DNA results returned as a half-aunt for me and and half-sister for my father. There were results similar to another half-aunt on my paternal grandmother's side. Autosomnal DNA tests are very effective for finding matches from a parent to the 5th-6th cousin range and beyond, but starts to become unreliable past 6th cousins.

Now the point of my hypothesis; matches in the Womelsdorf surname are great in the autosomnal test until anyone in the 4th cousin range
