What is Cement Render By The Master Plasterers

There are many reasons why cement render is frequently used. It is easy to use and highly effective. It is also very inexpensive as it contains materials such as cement, lime, and plasterer’s sand.

The use of cement render allows application on bricks and blocks to allow a smooth uniform substrate that can be finished with texture finish as well as paint coating.

The conventional meaning of “cement render” is site mixed sand and cement that are used on site. Today, it is usually packaged as pre-packed bagged cement renders.

When compared to site mixed renders, pre-packed bagged supplied cement renders offer a few more advantages. These include ease of use, mixed formula consistency (ie. compared to uncontrolled site mixed render), and cheaper cost. What makes this so inexpensive is its materials that include bulk sand and cement, which are normally used in surface leveling building materials.

Using cement render usually results in a sand-like and flat texture.

When applied to a wall, cement render does not require edging. It does, however, work better with a PVC bead. There are two reasons for this: First, it gives the edges a crisper line. Second, it prevents the edges of the render from cracking. This is why the use of PVC edges is highly recommended.

Those on a budget will definitely appreciate the use of a cement render. It is very inexpensive, allowing application to an entire home. When compared to an acrylic render, this will give you the most bang for your buck.

Some disadvantages of this material are it is not a site mixed render or a pre-packed render. It is also not water proof and it is prone to cracking especially over the long term time durations.
