The Major Oak Quintet is a Nottinghamshire-based saxophone ensemble formed in the summer of 2025. Named after the iconic tree in Sherwood Forest, the group brings together five talented young musicians with a shared love of performance and a mission to bring live music back into local communities.
Blending familiar pop tunes, smooth jazz standards, and timeless classical favourites, our repertoire is designed to be accessible, exciting, and full of personality. Whether it’s Olivia Rodrigo’s Vampire, the dreamy tones of Misty, or the nostalgic swing of Life Could Be a Dream, we aim to showcase the versatility of the saxophone and surprise audiences with just how fun a saxophone quintet can be.
We’re especially passionate about performing in towns where live music isn’t always easy to find, and we’re available for a wide range of events — from community festivals to private functions. If you love good music and want something a little different, we’d love to play for you.
